These pictures were posted on instagram by a photojournalist Sani Maikatanga. The girl in the bowl is Rahma Haruna, she has no functional limbs and arms. she lives in Lahdin Makole village Kano. Her brother carries her around in a plastic bowl to beg for alms.
A good samaritan donated a wheel chair to Rahma Haruna which put a smile on her face.
Sometime last December Rose Siggins, an actress best known for her portrayal of legless Suzi on America Horror story: Freak show, died at the age of 43. The actress was born with a rare genetic disorder called sacral agenesis.
Sacral agenesis is a rare congenital disorder in which there is abnormal fetal development of the lower spine,
It occurs at a rate of approximately one per 25,000 live births.
Folic acid deficiency , maternal diabetes , and genetic factors have been implicated as some of the causes of the disorder.
Pregnant women should try and take folic acid supplement very early in their pregnancy, register for antenatal as early as possible so that some of the investigations will be done on time.
For those who are affected already, they can be rehabilitated. We have some of them who are in sports, entertainment industry and some are motivational speakers.

We dont know Rahma Haruna's diagnosis but I believe she has a bright future like these people I mentioned.
